2022 Annual Report

Our Model

StreetCode Academy has been providing free tech classes in East Palo Alto since 2014. Our organization acts as a bridge between communities of color and the technology they need to thrive in a digital age.

StreetCode’s mission is to empower communities of color to achieve their full potential by introducing the skills, mindsets, and networks needed to embrace tech and innovation.

We seek to realize a world where the digital divide is closed, catalyzing a diverse tech sector that is better able to solve global problems.

How we do this is by providing programs to build the MINDSET, SKILLS, and ACCESS that communities of color need to engage in the world of technology today.

Our Mission

Even when equipped with the mindset and skills for success, innovators still need a network of opportunities connecting them to the tech industry.

We provide our community access to resources through our accelerator programcommunity partnershipsCORE webpage, internshipsexposureships, and Level-Up tech rental initiative.

Mindset Survey Results

We send surveys to students before and after they take StreetCode classes. These responses reflect their feelings after completing a class this quarter.

Students were asked whether they agreed, disagreed, or felt neutral about these statements. Students under nine years old had a three-point scale. All other students used a 10-point scale. We simplified the answers into the following buckets: 1-4 disagree, 5 neutral, 6-10 agree.
