This summer StreetCode Academy will take 20 community members behind the scenes at leading tech companies. These one-day field trips offer hands-on learning, direct mentorship from industry leaders, and a real-world look into the most innovative workplaces in the world.
What Is A Tech Exposureship
A one-day immersive field trip hosted by some of the most exciting companies in technology. Each visit includes:
A welcome tour of the company campus
A panel or mentorship conversation with employees
A co-designed, hands-on activity highlighting the company’s work
Plug and Play is one of Silicon Valley’s most influential innovation platforms and startup accelerators, connecting startups with major corporations and investors around the globe. During this Exposureship, students will explore how disruptive ideas turn into successful tech companies. They’ll tour Plug and Play’s headquarters, meet with startup founders, and engage in a hands-on innovation activity that mirrors the entrepreneurial process. It’s a deep dive into the world of venture capital, pitch decks, and breakthrough thinking.
Located at Stanford University, the Nanofabrication Facility is a world-class cleanroom lab where scientists and engineers design and build at the tiniest scales. Students will get a rare look inside the labs where cutting-edge research in nanotechnology, semiconductors, and quantum computing takes place. Led by Dr. Yuri Suzuki, this visit will include a behind-the-scenes tour, demos of real lab equipment, and interactive discussions on the future of materials science. This is a unique chance to see how science and tech converge at a world-leading research university.
Google is a global tech leader known for innovations in search, AI, cloud computing, and more. During this Exposureship, students will visit one of Google’s campuses and experience the creative, collaborative energy that fuels the company’s groundbreaking work. The day will include a campus tour, a panel of Googlers sharing their paths to tech careers, and a hands-on challenge connected to Google's products or design thinking. It’s a chance to see how big ideas scale to global impact.
OpenAI is at the forefront of artificial intelligence research and responsible AI development, known for creating tools like ChatGPT. Students will visit OpenAI’s offices and learn directly from the teams shaping the future of technology and ethics. Through a co-designed activity, they’ll explore how AI is built and what it means to use it responsibly, creatively, and inclusively. This Exposureship offers a window into how AI can empower communities—and how young people can be part of that future.
Participants will depart form and return to this location each Friday. Transportation, meals, and program materials are fully provided.
