REGISTRATION
StreetCode Academy offers a variety of free tech classes in subjects such as robotics, entrepreneurship, coding & design. In addition to our classes, we offer Pop-Ups, Huddle Ups and various partnerships with other organizations throughout the year.
- Our classes are offered in a Quarter System (Winter, Spring & Summer) for 2 hours long on Monday or Wednesday’s for periods of 6-8 weeks.
- Pop-Ups are 60 to 90-minute workshops where students can engage with technology in a fun, interactive way.
- Huddle Up is our virtual StreetCode Community gathering space where we engage with our community, feature interviews with technology changemakers/industry professionals, & discuss upcoming activities.
To register for any of our free tech classes, just go to streetcode.org/classes, select the class you’re interested in, and fill in the registration form for that program. If you are under 18, you’ll need a guardian to enter your information. Let us know why you’re interested in the program— your input helps us collect the data we need to better serve our community.
Never miss a StreetCode registration window again! Our free tech classes fill up fast, join our notification text list by texting “classes” to (650)334-3225 to receive notifications when we open registration each quarter.
You can expect an email the week after registration closes to let you know if you will have a seat in the class of your choice. Enrollment is limited, but even if you don’t get in, seats sometimes open up due to cancellations
Yes, you can register multiple students. You must submit a new registration form for each student. If you have any questions please contact us at info@streetcode.org.
If you need to drop a class, please write us at info@streetcode.org as soon as you know that you cannot attend. Because enrollment is limited, we often have a waiting list for seats in a class, so when you drop a class you are allowing another student to register.
If you need to schedule a different time, please contact us at info@streetcode.org and we will do our best to help accommodate you. However, due to the limited class size, we can’t promise that you’ll be able to change it.
All of our classes, programs and offerings are FREE!

Applying for our free tech classes is easy. First you go to streetcode.org/classes, select the class you’re interested in, and fill in the registration form for that program. If you are under 18, you’ll need a guardian to enter your information. The registration form includes guardian information, emergency contact, and a liability waiver. That’s it!

If you have any questions please reach out to our team at info@streetcode.org or call (650) 485-1413
All you need is a computer with a good internet connection and a guardian to help you apply if you are under 18. If you don’t have a computer or stable internet, our Level Up program can help if you are local to the Bay Area. Some SCA classes will require you to have already taken a lower-level class to prepare you with the skills that you’ll need for the class.
classes
You can find our free tech class schedules and programming at streetcode.org/classes. Our class offerings change quarterly, so always check in to see what’s new.
Currently, due to COVID restrictions, all of our classes are online. However, we look forward to resuming in-person classes at some point in the future. We are likely to continue offering some online and hybrid tech classes as well, so stay tuned…
If you live in the Bay Area and don’t have access to a computer or reliable internet, please visit streetcode.org/programs/computer-rental/ to see how we can help you.
We offer free tech classes to students from ages 4 to 80 and up. However, some classes have age limits due to the level of instruction being offered. You can see the age limits for specific classes at streetcode.org/classes.
Our classes are limited to 20 students. While we wish we could offer more seats in each class, it’s important to us that every student have access to individual attention. This number makes it possible to receive the one-on-one attention you need to learn comfortably.
Unlike our normal tech classes that meet on a regular schedule over the course of several months, Pop-Ups are one-time events that occur 4-5 times a month. These 90-minute online events are live, virtual, and offer introductions to a wide range of topics. They offer a low-commitment introduction to what StreetCode classes are about.

level up computer loaner program
StreetCode’s Level Up Computer Loaner program is a program that offers yearly computer rentals to families in need free of cost. Computer loans are granted to qualifying families on a rolling, first come, first serve basis depending on supply + the qualifications of applicants and are renewed on an annual basis.
Through StreetCode’s Level Up Initiative, we aim to close the Digital Divide by equipping our community with the technology they need to build the future. Since the COVID-19 outbreak so many activities have moved to digital spaces or hybrid spaces, access to technology has become even more essential for folks to access education, find and do work, and stay in touch with loved ones. Through this program, we hope to empower folks to access this digital world by ensuring that access to a high-quality device and internet is not a barrier.
- Our computer loaner program is open on a rolling, first come, first serve basis to anyone who:
- Is located in the Bay Area and is able to pick up and return the computer in Menlo Park East Palo Alto.
- Requires a computer for either themselves or their household members in order to be able to access educational and/or economic opportunities.
- While we’d love to serve as many people as possible, we are limited by our inventory. Therefore, we offer priority to applicants who:
- Are low income and would have trouble affording their own computer.
- Currently lack an adequate amount of high-quality devices in their home.
- Have K-12 or college students who require devices for remote learning.
- Are currently enrolled in StreetCode classes.
- Are located in EPA or Belle Haven.
The limit per household is as follows:
- 2 per household that has 3+ people planning to use the computer(s)
- 1 per household that has 2 or less people planning to use the computer
Outside of computers, depending on available supply, people who qualify for the Level Up Computer Loaner program can also qualify to either loan or receive a:
- Mouse
- Keyboard
- Headphones
Currently, we do our computer returns and renewals on a yearly basis with occasional check in surveys. This means that all computers will be due for return and renewal at a given time each year – StreetCode staff will be reaching out at this time to let you know how to return or renew the device (StreetCode staff or the staff of partner orgs will give you a date upon checkout). In addition, occasional check-in surveys will be sent to everyone with a computer out asking some information about how you’ve been using your computer. Please do take the time to fill out these surveys as the information we collect helps us to better understand how to serve the community and communicate to donors to receive more funding.
When computers are returned, folks will be given more information about how to renew their computer loans. Please note that everyone will be required to physically bring their computers back whether or not they plan to renew them so that we can do upkeep.
Yes! We currently do not offer to pay for internet plans, but are able to offer help finding and getting connected to an affordable plan (there are some low cost plans for as low as $10/month). We encourage you to check out https://www.everyoneon.org/ to see if you qualify for any low-cost plans and to reach out to our Tech Support Hotline (see above) for help getting set up.
Classes/Pop Ups: Outside of this program, StreetCode offers several amazing classes and Pop Up programs that teach everything from coding to entrepreneurship to design for ages 4-99. Check those out and register here.
Tech Support: Whether your device is having issues or you just want some help figuring out how to troubleshoot something, you can reach out to our Tech Support Hotline (see above) to get help from our IT team.
